VT Grasshopper Workshop Update

Virginia Tech’s 2009 Solar Decathlon team has recently launched its new website.  lumenHAUS features the developed screen pattern that was studied during the grasshopper workshop held in February 2009.  Following the workshop, Jonathan Grinham and the Virginia Tech Solar Decathlon team continued to develop the script, and have produced a full scale mock-up of the screen.

Autodesk Inventor Supports Rhino 3dm

Autodesk released a plugin that natively supports Rhino’s 3DM file type in Autodesk Inventor 2010.  This in combination to the support for Alias Studio makes Inventor a great choice for fabrication work.

Creating 3D Patterns using ParaCloud GEM

This video is by Dr. Eyal Nir the creator of ParaCloud and is the first video demonstrating ParaCloud GEM - a 3D pattern modeler.   

Over the next few weeks I’ll also be investigating the potential crossovers between the ParaCloud products and Grasshopper to extend the possibilities of generative design.

GridShell Modeling using the ParaCloud plugin

This is the first of a couple of videos I’ll be posting by Dr. Eyal Nir the creator of ParaCloud — a software that converts Microsoft Excel™ spreadsheets into a powerful generative and associative modeling and analysis application, and ParaCloud GEM - a 3D pattern modeler. ParaCloud products extend common CAD software capabilities with minimal changes to working habits and defines a new way of communication.  

Over the next few weeks I’ll also be investigating the potential crossovers between the ParaCloud products and Grasshopper to extend the possibilities of generative design.

Columbia Grasshopper Class Part One Archispeak

This is a fun little definition (Right-Click and Save As) that randomly generates some Archispeak based on controlling seed values of a random number generator.  It is based on a “Do-It-Yourself Architectural Dialogue” chart that was found on the internet.  Unfortunately, I don’t know who the original poster of this chart was, but it is great.
